Research Data Management Strategy: Indigenous Data Considerations

Indigenous Data Considerations

Coast Mountain College serves six First Nations in Northwest British Columbia: Haida, Tsimshian (Ts'msyen), Nisga'a, Haisla, Gitxsan, and Wet'suwet'en, and has the Tahltan Nation as close neighbours. The College works closely with these Nations and recognizes the importance of not only including them in our research data management plans but recognizing their ownership of the process, knowledge, data, and information. Coast Mountain College will follow the First Nations Principles of OCAP.

Coast Mountain College has a First Nations Council with representation from each of the First Nations communities in our region. The College will share general RDM information as well as the First Nations Principles of OCAP with those representatives. The First Nations Council will also be able to ask any questions about RDM and have a communication channel for any questions that come up over time.
